Sumit Patel

Prof. Mahendra Patel

Co-founding Director of Leaf, Sumit is responsible for Leaf’s business operations across clients and projects, as well as leading its creative, project development and business strategy. A National Institute of Design graduate, Sumit comes from a vastly digital background lending expertise to world-class interactive projects, applications and online service design. He has held key creative positions at Rediff.com, Euro RSCG and TBWA Anthem Interactive and has worked on prestigious international brands. He frequently lectures on branding and effective design through strategy, information systems and brand experience.

Sandeep co-founded Leaf as Director with Sumit. Today, with key strengths in digital business and brand understanding, he leads the creative, business development and brand strategy. Sandeep graduated in communication design from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune. Prior to Leaf, he was team founding member at Rediff.com for developing strategy and design across content, e-commerce and community services. Garnering significant international experience, Sandeep worked with a variety of companies to help them manage online product strategies, design and development across content, ecommerce and community services in India, San Francisco & New York.

Chief Mentor to Leaf, Prof. Mahendra Patel has contributed greatly to our evolution as a company. He is responsible for company-wide design excellence, and actively contributes in the ideas related to human-centered design. He became the only Indian to bag the prestigious Mainz Gutenberg International Award in 2010. He has been jury member, guest lecturer and teacher across design institutes in India and abroad. As accomplished faculty member at National Institute of Design for 39 years, he has carved a niche not only in the design institutes but in the lives many of his students who continue to be inspired by him. A brilliant academician and sought-after teacher, his focus now lies in working with colleagues, institutes, agencies and students in an extensive study of Type Design Development of Indian scripts, and Way Finding Graphics including Signage & Map Design.

Working closely with Leaf’s creative collective, Tanvi designs strategies, draws rationale, and manages design as a Brand Strategist while developing design experiences for our diverse clientele. With a wealth of design thinking and world-knowledge garnered at London Business School and the London College of Communication, she has a richness of conceptual thinking essential in today’s times. Her love of reading and travelling helps her evolve naturally into a goldmine of ideas everyone likes to dig into.		As Principal Designer, Taruna contributes her versatile design skills and sharp conceptual thinking to essential branding projects at Leaf, and she is always ready for a new challenge. She is a prolific designer with an intuitive sense for diverse projects and their requirements. She joined Leaf after honing her design skills and career at design studios Makani Creatives and Saints & Warriors.
